WELCOME TO MAXX2RACING (M2)

The Royal Purple Maxx2Racing '99 Pontiac Firebird
LSR Race Car-
Highway Hauler-Canyon Carver

Similar to our first ‘Build’, our ’69 El Camino, the Firebird would be called a ‘Pro Touring’ to most, however, the capability of 200 MPH speeds at Land Speed Racing events takes it to a different level

It’s important that we highlight the parts used in this build, as our sponsors have made all of this possible

Maxx2Racing Mission Statement

The car was stripped of it’s interior, the motor and trans were pulled, including all wiring, windshield removed (Lexan required), the car was degreased and pressure washed inside and out, and now nearing a completion date for testing for this highway driven Land Speed Racing (LSR) Race Car. We cut the top front support member above the radiator for easy access to work on, install, or remove the motor from the car. Additionally, you will note the area cut below the windshield. This is for easy access to the Accel 300+ Digital Ignition System-HEI, otherwise, it would be nearly impossible to work on or remove the HEI itself

***A 'Sea Of Red' Awaits Anyone Who Opens The Hood On The Car***

The Motor/Trans Package are officially installed. We will now install the Canton Accusump 3 Qt. Pre-Oiling System

The Firewall will either be Polished Stainless, or Polished Aluminum, and the reflection will be awesome

The UMI Front Suspension/K-member Setup is installed (Suspension Page), with the soon to be installed RideTech ShockWave Suspension

We are now fabricating the rear suspension, which is a Triangulated Four Link setup, something that many fabricators can learn from, as the factory Torque Bar setup leaves something to be desired

Of note is the special attention paid to building a car with that 'Show Car' look, while keeping the costs to a minimum. This is not a 'Trailer Queen', but attention to detail was an absolute must, as the car will be displayed at multiple car shows and events in Northern Nevada, Northern California, possibly Utah, Idaho, and Arizona

Next up will be the installation of the RideTech front Shockwave System. Our system will be fully adjustable from the driver's area, with each Shockwave fully and individully controlled

The Harwood Ram Air Hood has now been test fitted, and fits perfectly. The passenger side fender has been replaced with a donor fender. Next up are the many hours of cleaning the body itself to remove all grease and wax, hours of sanding, and the first coat(s) of PPG Epoxy Primer. After drying and shrinking for approx. 3 weeks, the body will be block sanded, and a second identical application of PPG Epoxy Primer will be applied, followed 3 weeks later by block sanding the entire car again. Without spending this time on the car, which will be painted 'Brilliant Black', the quality of the final finish would be less than desired, something we won't allow for a car of this caliber, as it must be SEMA Show ready

The Afco Racing Radiator has been fitted to the car, which is 4" wider than the stock Firebird unit. This required cutting the front frame horns, welding in 4" x 4" 'C' channel, and then cleaning up and priming the bare metal areas. Major Cooling, and additional needed strength added to the front of the car!!!
