WELCOME TO MAXX2RACING (M2)
The Royal Purple Maxx2Racing '99 Pontiac Firebird
LSR Race Car-
Highway Hauler-Canyon Carver
Similar to our first ‘Build’, our ’69 El Camino, the Firebird would be called a ‘Pro Touring’ to most, however, the capability of 200 MPH speeds at Land Speed Racing events takes it to a different level
It’s important that we highlight the parts used in this build, as our sponsors have made all of this possible

The car was stripped of it’s interior, the motor and trans were pulled, including all wiring, windshield removed (Lexan required), the car was degreased and pressure washed inside and out, and now nearing a completion date for testing for this highway driven Land Speed Racing (LSR) Race Car. We cut the top front support member above the radiator for easy access to work on, install, or remove the motor from the car. The support member will be part of a fabricated support plate that covers the radiator. Additionally, you will note the area cut below the windshield. This is for easy access to the Accel 300+ Digital Ignition System-HEI, otherwise, it would be nearly impossible to work on or remove the HEI itself
We will soon have the new UMI Front Suspension Setup installed, followed by the RideTech ShockWave Suspension

Ready to install the New Design UMI Performance Front Suspension System, including the new 'K' Member. The upper and lower control arms are of the Roto-Joint Design for fine tuning the suspension alignment of the car
Next up will be the installation of the RideTech front Shockwave System. Our system will be fully adjustable from the driver's area, with each Shockwave fully and individully controlled
You can clearly see the cut-out panel below the windshield area, which will provide easy access to the Accel 300+ Digital Ignition System for the High Performance SBC Motor

The Harwood Ram Air Hood has now been test fitted, and fits perfectly. Will spend today installing the bump stops to raise the hood even with the front fenders, which are also test fitted at this time. The passenger side fender is being replaced with a donor fender, as it currently has a large cracked area at the very front upper corner. The Afco Racing Radiator has been fitted to the car, which is 4" wider than the stock Firebird unit. This required cutting the front frame horns, welding in 4" x 4" 'C' channel, and then cleaning up and priming the bare metal areas. Major Cooling, and additional needed strength added to the front of the car!!!

Radiator with Flex-a-lite Oil/Trans Cooler unit w/'Pusher' Fan, SS braided Hi-pressure lines. This Radiator/Cooler unit also includes a 'Puller' Fan' attached to the radiator

Detail shows the ease of installing or removing the motor. Note the top support plate is removeable for easy access to the motor should you need to work on the front of the motor. The UMI Engine Bay Brace with Roto-Joints is easily removable. No obstructions whatsover
Why didn't GM think of this? Sure saves those hands!
Note the engine bay 'Down Bars', welded to the large angle plates, which are welded to the frame horns on each side, plus you will note the additional down bar for strength. The Nascar Spec Cage provides stiffness necessary to keep the car from 'Flexing', which is seen in all of these 4th Generation F-body cars
